Confirm Obstructive Azoospermia

Various glands contribute to specific components of seminal plasma; Prostate – zinc; Seminal vesicle –fructose; Epididymis – neutral a-glucosidase (NAG). Depending on semen volume and pH, absence of fructose, NAG or both should be checked to confirm obstructive azoospermia.

Obstructive azoospermia may be confirmed if the difference in neutral a- glucosidase activity in the post vasectomy ejaculate between 30 and 90 minute time points during incubation of the assay is lower than each respective value.

Order: Semen Chemistries-Investigational Test.
